I once asked my dad how he writes songs and lyrics. He answered, “I don’t write them, I catch them.”

“Lost” is the first original I’ve written since 2007. Inspiration to write music doesn’t come often for me; in the past, it has come when I am overwhelmed with emotion and there is no other way to relieve myself of everything I’m feeling inside.

In February, I lost my grandmother. Shortly after her passing, I caught this song from the air around me. At first, I couldn’t sing it without crying, but after some time, I realized that those tears were exactly what I needed to help me begin the process of healing. It’s as if she sent me this song to help console me herself.

If you miss someone in your life right now and you are aching, know that you are not alone. I hope this song gives you the chance to set those difficult emotions free by putting them into words your heart can understand.

"The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave it to neither power nor time."
